Co-dependency Anonymous

 

Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) is for individuals who want to live independent lives with functional and healthy relationships. Co-Dependents Anonymous is a twelve step program that helps individuals break free of their dysfunctional behavior. 

Codependence is a is an emotional and behavioral condition that affects an individuals ability to develop and maintain health and mutually satisfying relationships. Codependency is also known as “relationship addiction” since individuals maintain one-sided relationships that are often detrimental to him or herself. This type of behavior is learned by watching and following other family members who engage in codependent behavior.

Co-dependents Anonymous help members recover from this process addiction. Codependency often leaves people with low esteem and a sense of confusion on what normal life is truly like. CoDA helps members move past these feelings as the recover from their behavior addiction. 

Co-Dependents Anonymous follows a twelve step program very similar to that use by Alcoholics Anonymous. These twelve steps include members seeking a relationship with a higher power throughout their recovery process. The Twelve Steps encourage members to evaluate their past errors and make amends to people for their actions. Co-Dependents Anonymous advocates that by following the Twelve Step program, members will undergo a spiritual awakening. Co-Dependents Anonymous also advocates members help others who also suffer form codependency. 

Co-Dependents Anonymous holds a variety of regular meeting for its members which are integral to the twelve steps process. At some meetings, members study and discuss Co-Dependents Anonymous literature. At most meetings, members share their experiences, sometimes even able specific topics. By sharing and listening experiences, members are able to support each other through this difficult process. Co-Dependents Anonymous hold meetings across the country and are open to people form all walks of life.
