Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been in the news quite a bit these last few years due to the number of our military returning from overseas.  Many of our service men and women suffer from this type of anxiety disorder.  Recent research has uncovered that a traumatic event can actually change the way the brain routes and processes information and emotions.  PTSD can occur directly after a trauma or months down the road.  Individuals dealing with this illness often complain of paranoia, flashbacks, insomnia, bouts of rage and/or depression, while also dealing with the circumstances of the event(s).  Shame, guilt, anger…all of these things are part of the PTSD sufferer’s daily existence driving individuals to dangerous behavior such as: drugs, alcohol, and violent outbursts.

If you have questions regarding treatment options for PTSD, or even need a compassionate voice on the other end of the phone to help guide you, our helpline is available 24 hours a day for individuals ready to take that first step towards freedom and for their families seeking assistance: Call us on 877-403-3381
